Hundreds of participants, supporters, family and friends joined in the second annual Le Tour de Cure at the Sea Colony Freeman Fitness Center on February 28.  Proceeds, which will be sent to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, totaled $13,280.

76 participants used LeMond Revmaster Cycles, each taking a 45-minute “ride.”  Certified spin instructors provided encouragement and music to make everyone’s heart pump.  In addition to a registration fee, “riders” obtained pledges and many supporters contributed donations.  The proceeds will benefit research for a cure for blood cancers. 

This year’s event honored the memory of Elizabeth Shoemaker.  One observer described “a room full of positive energy and electricity” as people participated and cheered.  There were many teachers and students from local Sussex County schools who knew Elizabeth, and respected her determination. 

Le Tour de Cure truly was a community event, according to Jen Neal, Fitness and Activities Manager for Sea Colony.   Many of the expected costs for supplies, refreshments and door prizes were donated by local businesses.  Special thanks to the following businesses, whose generosity and support made the day so successful:
